What is it and what is it for?
Neem oil is extracted from the Azadirachta indica plant, a tree native to South Asia and India. It is the seeds of this tree that contain the highest concentration of this oil. The bioactive compound – azadirachtin – is known for its insecticidal, fungicidal and repellent properties.
Its insecticidal properties
Neem oil is a natural insecticide for most pests on your house plants. Mealybugs, thrips, mites, whiteflies, fungus gnats, and aphids are all pests that you can control using this natural insecticide.
How to apply neem oil on plants
Dilute it in water in a sprayer and add a few drops of liquid soap to emulsify. Spray the leaves generously. Use kitchen paper to remove the excess product. Repeat weekly until your plant is clean and then monthly to keep it safe.
